Lard is traditionally used in cooking or baking. In the last century it’s been replaced by vegetable oils and shortening, but many people still prefer lard over vegetable-based ingredients.
Lard can be different based on the diet of the pig. Our pigs have the benefit of spending significant time foraging in the woods, and likely our lard is much healthier than store-bought lard (if you’re interested in studies about how the way pigs are fed affects the outcome of the meat, this one is a great read.
Note: our lard MUST be kept refrigerated or frozen. No preservatives!
